Scents of Purpose Company was born out of the need to help others. Our family relocated three years ago from the East Coast to California . While driving through the downtown area known as Skid Row, we were overwhelmed by the large number of people living on the street. We were shocked and horrified to see mothers and children holding up signs that pleaded for work or money so they could buy food. We settled into our new lives in Los Angeles but remained haunted by the images we had seen downtown.

The State of California was desperately trying to house and feed these people but the economic situation made it impossible to help everyone. One day I made a decision to buy a large quantity of food, cook it and drive it downtown to serve to people at a park in Skid Row. The first week we served about 50 people. Within a year we were serving more than 350 people! I went to local grocery stores to ask for donations and was told repeatedly that the bad economy made it impossible for them to donate food to the cause. The cost became a financial burden for us. I needed to find a solution because turning away hungry people was upsetting to me and giving up was not an option. One morning I got down on my knees and prayed for guidance. The answer I received was to start a candle company to support this cause.

I set out to educate myself on the process of making candles. I learned that many of the chemicals used to manufacture candles are not organic. I had recently seen a news report about how most candles and incense are extremely toxic. My goal as a mother, a pet owner and a candle lover was to create a candle of the highest quality possible. I wanted candles that were 100% organic, non-toxic, and eco-friendly. I wanted candles that were so pure they could even be used as a body cream. I spent months researching and developing a product that I would be proud to put my name on. The result is The Scents Of Purpose Candles.

We donate a portion of each candle sale to a couple of different causes: the Skid Row Project, Promises Foundation, and animal rescue.
